Translation of the text:

The Promise

1. Ayman was a young boy aged fourteen years. He got involved in an accident and injured his leg. The injury was so severe that he could not walk. His father was a commander in the army commanding huge military vehicles.

His father took him to the hospital to treat his legs but it did not benefit him. The doctor said, “This fracture requires a long time to heal and a strong determination from Ayman”.

He spent his time crying. Ayman was an expert swimmer; he took part in swimming competitions, and won prizes. He was preparing for an international competition, but the accident prevented him from practicing swimming. That was a major reason for his sadness.

2. His father purchased for him two clutches to use while walking. Ayman did not want to face people, so he stopped going to classes and stopped swimming practice. His father encouraged him to go out into the community and dragged him to the hospital for treatment; he pressed and tried to train his legs to walk, and to lead a natural life as he was before the accident. Finally his father told him he was to go to the front to defend his country. He demanded from his son to get rid of despair and be patient, and continue with the classes and his practice for swimming as he was fond of it. Ayman promised his father that he will perform what is expected from him. And he said “Go to the war zone, and defeat the enemy. And when you return, God Willing, you shall find me as I have promised you. Then they hugged each other.

3. Ayman bid good bye to his father and held his hand hard (to confirm his resolve to succeed). His father was also very much disappointed because he left his son alone for the first time in his life in an injured condition. Ayman was an orphan by the death of his mother, and he had to learn the needs of life by himself, and to learn his studies from school and to attend training at the sports club which was nearby his house.

Ayman found it very difficult in the beginning. Ayman was returning after a long time. He was practicing every day. The practice helped Ayman. He was able to walk without the clutches. But he was limping a bit. At the beginning of every month his father was sending him an amount for his expenses. Along with it was a letter enquiring of his health and encouraging him to be brave.

4. The war ended and the army was victorious, the officers and the soldiers started returning to their families. On the day when Ayman was about to take part in the big competition his father arrived, they both hugged. The father and son sat together and talked about what they saw and did during the previous month. His father was happy when he came to know that Ayman succeeded in his exams. He was happier when he saw that his son was able to walk without depending on anything. Ayman was astonished to hear the news from the battle field and how the enemy was defeated. In the evening his father accompanied him to the large swimming pool. It was the final race of the swimming competition. Ayman had gone there with his father thinking about the difficult test he had ahead of him.

5.  Ayman had taken part in several competitions. He won the free style swimming competition and lifted the cup and every one clapped for him. Here is Ayman's coach, stressing him to prepare for the international swimming competition about to begin after a month.

Ayman and his father left the large swimming pool with happiness visible on their faces. The father said to his son, “I am glad that you promised and you kept your promise. Now it is my turn. Let us go to the market and buy a computer which I had promised for you.” That night Ayman sat in front of the computer and beside him was his father, watching what game his son was playing. And before both went to sleep, Ayman wrote in bold letters on the computer monitor screen, “Thank you my loving Dad.”
