Arabic Text Book 3 Chapter 19
Paragraph 1:
الهواية نشاط تقضي فيه الوقت من أجل التسلية.
بعض الناس يجدون التسلية في عمل شـيء واحدٍ،
والبعض الآخر يجدون التسلية فــي عمل أشياء كثيــرة.
فجمع الأشياء هوايــة وعمـل الأشياء هواية,
ودراسة الأشياء هواية.
al-hiwayatu nashat taqdi feehi al-waqt min ajli tasliyah.
Baádu al-naas yajidoona at-tasliat fi ámali shayi'n wahdin, walbád al-akharu yajidoona al-tasliat fee amali 'ashya' kathyr.
fajumia al-ashya' hiwayah wa amalil ashya' hiwayah, wa diraasatil ashya' hiwayah.
Meaning :
Hobby is an activity of spending time for entertainment.
Some people enjoy doing one activity,while others find joy in doing many things.
Collecting things is a hobby and doing (creative) things is a hobby,and learning (new) things is a hobby.

وبعــض الهوایات مفیدة.
ومــن الهوایات ما
تأتى لأصحابهـا بالمـال, ولكـنّ هذا لا
يجعلها أفضل من غیرها. فالهواية الجيّدة
هي التي تجد فیها التسلیة.
Read as :
Wa baádul hiwaayaath mufeedah.
Wa min al-hiwaayaath Maa ta-tee li ashaabihaa bil-maal,Walaakin Haazaa laa tajaluhaa afdalu min ghairihaa.
Fal hiwaayathu al-jayyidathu hiya allathee thajidu feehaa al-thasliha.
And among the hobbies there are some that give the owners an earning (opportunity); but that doesn't make a hobby better than the other.
So a good hobby is one where you find enjoyment.
Paragraph 3:
ضحـى تحب الخياطة
عندها إبرة وِمقصٌ
وخَيــطٌ ملوَّنٌ
فـي يـومٍ تَعمَلُ فسـتانًا
صغيرًا لعروستها ،
وفي يَومٍ تَعمَلُ مفرَشًـا
للمِنضَــدَةِ ، وتَرسُـمُ عَليـهِ أزهــارًا جَميلةً ، بالخيط الملوَّن.
Read as :
Duhaa thuhibbu al-khiyaathah.
Indahaa ibrathun wa miqas.
Wa khaithun mulawwan.
Fee yawmin tha'malu fusthaanan,
sagheeran li aroosatihaa,
wa fee yawmin tha'malu mufrashan lil mindadah,
wa tharsumu alaihee azhaaran jameelathan,bil khaith al-mulawwan.

Duhaa loves tailoring, She has a needle and scissors andColored thread.On a day she prepared a small frock for the small doll.On a day she worked on a cloth forthe table, and drew beautiful flowers with colored thread.

أحمـد يحبّ هواية جَمعِ الطوابعِ ،
يَجمَعُ الطَّوابعَ مِن بِلادٍ كثيــرة ،
ويضع الطَّوابعَ في دفترٍ صغير ،
ويكتب تحت كلِّ طا بعٍ السَنَةَ و اسمَ البَلَدِ وما تَعرفُه عن هذا البلد .
Ahmed loves the hobby of collecting stamps,
He Collects stamps from many countries,
Puts the stamps in a small notebook,
He writes under each the year, the name of the country and what he knew about that country.

Ahmed collects stamps from many countries.

التدبير المنزليّ أن تعرف كيف تطبخ و تعمل الحلوى .
Al-thadbeer al-manzilee an thaárifu Kaifa thathbukhu wa thámalu Halwaa.
Home making is to know how to cook and prepare sweets.
4) Answer : لا أعرف - Laa aárifu - I don't know.
خالد يحب هوايات أخرى كثيرة مع هواية الفروسية .
Khalid yuhibbu hiwaayaath ukhraa Kaseerah maá hiwaayah al-furusiyyah .
Khaled loves many other hobbies along with equestrian.
5) Answer : لا - Laa - No.
المراسلة أن تخرج في معسكرات و تقيم
الخيام .
Al-muraasilah an thakhruju fee Makthbah wa thuqaiyim al-khiyaam.
Writing letters is to go out (and stay) in camps and tents.
